Projects

Connect to Africa supports projects that have one common theme; a child and young person centered approach, with long term sustainability baked in from the start.

Connect to Africa-facilitated projects all have individual needs, but for each we aim to help them transition through three stages; Survive, Maintain, Sustain

Projects are not always created by the Connect to Africa Team, our main role is to act as a facilitation hub for existing Africa-based projects, people with ideas for new projects and people that simply want to volunteer their time and energy.

We aim amplify the message of existing projects that are underway in country whilst also enabling new project founders to evolve their plans from idea to implementation.

With many on-the-ground obstacles removed these projects are accelerated towards an operational state.

Countries we have connected volunteers and donors with to date include Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, South Africa, Gambia, and Cameroon with future projects coming on lin ein Ghana and Eritrea very soon.

Sports Development

It's no secret that rugby can be a pretty rough old sport, so why are we trying  to get these local lads and ladies all geared up to get involved? Well a little know fact is that rugby also embodies some pretty powerful core values too.  Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are encouraged throughout all of rugby education and what sets it apart from other games. Connect to Africa is actively working to better educate teams, coaches and players in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Malawi.  We also gladly accept bot new and old equipment, balls and kits which we arrnage to be distributed amongst the teams we support.

Womens Support

Ladies playing sports in Africa can't just pop down to Sports Direct any time they feel like it. This means that most of the time when they are running or playing these ladies breasts have nothing to steady the resulting movement which can actually lead to some painful outcomes. We want the ladies of the UK to stand up, give those greying support bras a good wash and send them our way so we can provide some much needed #BoobSupport!

Connect to Africa wants you to share your musical collection with a blind child in Africa! We want to just to stick your old iPod in a jiffy bag and send it our way! For more details see....

Shoes for Schools

Our Shoes for Schools campaign aims to provide each child with 1 pair of supportive, comfortable and hard wearing shoes to get them through their school year. We are currently asking for people to buy a pair of shoes for a child at Spire School for the Blind in Jinja, Uganda. At the moment, some of the children go to school every day barefoot, while others have shoes that any child would struggle to walk in. As the children who attend Spire School are visually impaired it is an even more difficult task for them.
